Integral Cradles and GIND UK are Highly Commended at IWFM Awards

Integral Cradles and sister company GIND UK are delighted to have received a ‘Highly Commended’ at the IWFM Impact Awards 2022.

The two companies were finalists in the Technology category at the awards for our work at 52 Lime Street. Nicknamed The Scalpel due to the building’s unique, angular shape, Integral Cradles and GIND UK created an access solution as unique as the building itself.

Integral Cradles, contracted by Skanska, designed and installed two of the largest BMUs of their kind in the world to service the facade of the 190-metre skyscraper. The larger unit installed on the west side of the building has a 19-metre operating radius, is 49 metres in height, weighs 41,300 kg and has a 1,000-kg glass replacement capacity.

As an extra design feature, the east BMU was designed with a roof panel comprising photovoltaic cells, which move and slide in tandem with the unit’s operation. The cells provide renewable energy for the building, a valuable extra benefit of the system.

GIND UK, in a separate contract won on the back of the success of the extraordinary access solution created by Integral Cradles, is delivering ongoing warrantied maintenance to ensure the two BMUs and roof systems remain in full operational order.

The technology and genuinely innovative approach taken by Integral Cradles and GIND UK were recognised by the judges of the IWFM Impact Awards. In a glittering ceremony on the evening of 17th October at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London, Integral Cradles and GIND UK were proud to receive a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate for their work.

Together, Integral Cradles and GIND UK deliver a whole-lifecycle solution for building access solutions, managing the entire operation from concept to completion to maintenance, ensuring ongoing optimal performance.
