Integral Cradles delivers bespoke access solution for Citi Tower’s three-storey winter garden

Integral Cradles, a leading provider of specialist access solutions, has completed a bespoke project at Citi Tower, 25 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, as part of the building’s £1.1 billion refurbishment.

Working on behalf of main contractor Overbury for client Citi, Integral Cradles delivered a project-specific solution to support the transformation of the 42-storey office block, which has been comprehensively refurbished to create flexible work and collaboration spaces, alongside wellbeing zones for employees, reflecting the changing nature of modern workplaces.

As part of the wider redevelopment, a striking three-storey winter garden was created within the tower. To provide safe and effective access for its ongoing maintenance, Integral Cradles designed and installed a bespoke cantilevered mobile scaffold tower, reaching the full three storeys of the space.

The system incorporates two cantilevered platforms, project-specific anchor points, and a purpose-built scaffold base designed to overarch the planting areas within the winter garden without compromising the landscaping beneath.

Discussing the project, Kevin Walton, Managing Director at Integral Cradles, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to design a truly bespoke solution for a standout feature of the Citi Tower redevelopment. The winter garden presented a unique access challenge, requiring a system that could safely overarch the planting areas while still providing full three-storey reach for maintenance teams.”

“Our design team worked closely with Overbury to develop a mobile scaffold tower that met the project’s specific structural and access requirements, without impacting the integrity of the space beneath.”

In addition to delivering the equipment, Integral Cradles provided full training to client staff on the safe use of the bespoke system, ensuring the winter garden can be maintained safely and efficiently for years to come.

Kevin added: “It’s testament to our team’s design capabilities that we were able to deliver a solution tailored so precisely to this space. Training the client’s staff on the system was an important part of the project, giving them the confidence and competence to maintain this impressive feature long into the future.”

The completion of the Citi Tower winter garden project further reinforces Integral Cradles’ reputation for delivering innovative, bespoke access solutions for complex and prestigious developments across London.
