Building details:
1 Leadenhall Street is a tower comprising 40,000m² of office accommodation, a free public terrace and ground floor retail located in the City of London. The 35-storey building is located next to the Grade II-listed Leadenhall Market, on the site of the ancient Roman Forum, an area home to several important City structures.
Architect Make’s design embraces the heritage of the area, and complements the surrounding architecture in scale, proportion and materials. The 4-storey masonry ‘street block’ reflects characteristics of similarly sized neighbouring buildings, while the three elegant ‘blades’ above it stagger in response to the City Cluster to the north and the lower-rise buildings to the south.
Equipment supplied:
Integral Cradles delivered an impressive twin BMU solution for 1 Leadenhall Street, featuring two BMUs with 19.3m maximum reach and 1,000kg auxiliary winch operating on a shared track system. The installation included two substantial lift tables with 40.2t capacity and 2.8m lift capability to support the heavy-duty access requirements.
Difficulty overcome:
Our engineering team overcame significant spatial constraints with extremely limited roof space and tight track bends by developing a special BMU wheel unit design.
