Heathrow T2A

We acquired this order to provide all the bespoke access systems on the Foster & Partners-designed Terminal 2a at Heathrow Airport.

The new building replaced Terminal 2 and the Queens Building. It will have the capacity to serve 20 million passengers each year and its innovative design will reduce CO2 emissions by 40%. The new T2a Terminal is part of the plan to develop and transform Heathrow Airport by 2020.

The undulating waveform roof provided several design and installation challenges that Integral Cradles were able to overcome with the assistance of our 3D design processes, as well as working as part of an experienced and coordinated team (HETCo/Laing O’Rourke).

The installation comprises of two single track horizontal and climbing systems, each with a powered trolley system and powered cradle with bespoke parking areas.
