Integral Cradles, a leading provider of specialist façade access solutions, has successfully completed Factory Acceptance Testing for its project at 2 Aldermanbury Square in March 2025.
Working on behalf of main contractor Lendlease for client Great Portland Estates (GPE), Integral Cradles conducted rigorous testing of the advanced parallelogram Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) that will service the prestigious London development.
The state-of-the-art access solution features an impressive 31.5m reach, a powerful 750kg auxiliary winch, and a specialised slewing cradle designed to provide comprehensive façade access for the building. This equipment will ensure safe and efficient maintenance of the structure’s exterior for years to come.
Kevin Walton, Managing Director at Integral Cradles, commented on the testing:
“We’re pleased to confirm the successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Testing for 2 Aldermanbury Square. Our team worked closely with both Lendlease and Great Portland Estates to develop a bespoke solution that meets the specific access requirements of this landmark building. The BMU with its slewing cradle capabilities represents the cutting-edge technology and engineering excellence that Integral Cradles is known for delivering.”
The testing phase represents a critical milestone in the project’s timeline, confirming that all equipment functions precisely to specification before installation commences on site. This thorough approach ensures the seamless integration of façade access solutions and minimises disruption during the construction process.
The 2 Aldermanbury Square project adds to Integral Cradles’ impressive portfolio of high-profile London developments, reinforcing the company’s reputation for delivering complex façade access solutions for the UK’s most iconic buildings.
Installation of the BMU system is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with Integral Cradles continuing its collaborative approach with Lendlease to ensure the successful delivery of this significant project.
